You can find a great tutorial for this project at: Le Cafe Craft. This book cover was a real bright red that I didn't like. So I just painted over it with acrylic paint.
I made a faux leather background for the title.
I made these beads awhile back, but they fit perfectly with the color of the book cover.
For the inside cover I copied some ephemera I have and cut slits in it for pockets.
I made my base pages out of cardboard to give them strength.
I used fabric strips to tie the pages to the spine.
I made this pocket out of junk mail. I used a lot of stuff that I had made up throughout the year.
Just a better view of the above content.
And some more pockets on the backside.
I like to use receipts (on the right) for journaling cards. This one is from Nic and Normans in Senoia, Ga. where they are filming the Walking Dead.
I added a journaling part to my book.
This is a half page. It's just a little folder.
I used an old negative under my stamp.
You have a pocket and plenty of room to journal.
On the back you have an envelope with a tuckspot.
For this page I used a CD sleeve. I designed my own paper for this one.
It was a bit of a challenge to match up the inside paper with the outside.
I made a faux embossed metal heart, and had used pieces out of it. But I thought the leftover would look great on this tag, and it fit perfectly in my CD sleeve.
On the back more journaling space.
This insert I made for pictures or journaling.
On the left I used scraps all over, and added a small pocket.
Here I crimped up some paper for the background and colored it with acrylic paint. I wanted a page where I used fabric for a pocket and a tuckspot.
On the back I used some stenciling.
I also sewed a shaker pocket.
This double pocket folder tutorial you can also find at Le Cafe Craft.
Here are some of the inserts. I made some of those flashcards, I think that's what they are called.
On the left is an envelope I made and on the right a rolodex card.
I have an old swimmer passport from school. So I just made a copy to enclose in the book.
I want to thank Le Cafe Craft for the great tutorials and inspiration. It was fun to put together. I gave this book to my daughter Samantha, for her 29th Birthday. Renate
