My Version of the Roly Poly Journal.
Kristi at Burlap & Daily Bread, has a great tutorial on how to make this little journal. I only changed the spine sizes. Spine 1 and 2 are 1 inch, and spine 3 is 1/2 inch. Also I just used one elastic and I added eyelets. I had a long piece of white card stock, therefore I didn't use any card board. I stamped the background and then went over it with distress ink. I then covered it in tissue paper. It was still a bit flimsy for me, so I added a piece of cardstock to each inside section.
I attached a Polaroid pocket to the front.
I added a charm and a circle tug spot in the bottom corner. Leimen is the town I used to live at, in Germany.
For the closure I punched out the butterfly 3 times and glued the pieces together. Then I covered it with one layer of UTEE. Then I just threaded some fabric, I dyed with food coloring, thru the butterfly and tied a bow on the left spine.
These are the inserts I made for the Polaroid pocket. For the left tag I used some plastic for the tab.
Here is a view from the top.
This is where I tied the bow from the front cover.
This is the back. I left it as is.
When you open it you can see my altered coffee filter pocket. I also sewed a little pocket to it.
This is the little charm I made for it. You can find the mini playing cards at Hobby Lobby or Michaels, where the dollhouse section is.
Without inserts.
Inserts for this pocket.
Then, before you unfold it again, I attached a pocket. I used scraps to cover it, and sewed down at the seams.
2 inserts for that pocket, using my scraps.
Now, when you unfold it, you can see my sewn side tuck spot and the front of the junk journal page insert.
Here is a close-up of the tuck spot. I also painted the background on this section.
Here are the inserts. I made the mini Polaroid.
I attached an altered Paperclip to the page.
Then behind the pages are more pockets.
Here you have 4 pockets, in different sizes.
I just made these out of book pages and sewed around it.
These are the inserts for this pocket page.
Then when you unfold it again, you have the last 2 sections.
For this one I made a belly band and sewed my die cut cups to it.
Under the belly band you can find a pocket and 2 journal cards. I made both cards.
For this pocket I just used some plastic and a strip of fabric for the top.
For this tag I also used up some scraps.
Here without the tag.
I tried to take a few pictures with it unfolded, so you can see it better.

This was fun putting it together. Thanks to Kristi, for the inspiration.
